Verge Maintenance and Weed Control
The City undertakes yearly maintenance of unmaintained verges by either slashing or mowing.
The City also conducts weed spraying on footpaths, kerbs, traffic islands, medians and certain parks and reserves at least twice a year.
Most of these works are undertaken by an approved contractor while some smaller tasks are undertaken by the City Parks team.
It is not always possible to control weed growth by mechanical means therefore, herbicides on the City’s approved chemical register are used which includes Glyphosate which is the commonly selected herbicide used in local government.
Do Not Spray Register
Property owners may request for their verge to be placed on the Do Not Spray Register by providing a reason for objection. It should be noted that property owners who opt out of the spraying program are still required to maintain their verge in a clean and tidy condition that meets the City's minimum standards.
You can request to opt out of the spraying program by filling out the Do Not Spray Register Form Alternatively, you can also request to be removed from the register at any time.
