Community invited to planting day

Winter rains means it’s time to break out the gardening gloves and join in on the greening fun at Come Help Plant day this weekend.

Hosted by the Chaman River Friends, the annual event is held to help revegetate areas within the Chapman River Regional Park.

91视频 Mayor Jerry Clune said planting seedlings gives the community the opportunity to be part of something really awesome.

“For nearly 15 years, the City has partnered with community groups to hold planting days in coastal and bushland reserves for anyone to take part in,” he said.

“This year, in partnership with Chapman River Friends, the aim is to plant more than 300 seedlings along the Chapman River, all of which will be counted towards the Million Trees Project.

“If you would like to make a difference and help green the City grab a mate, your partner and your kids and meet at the Swan Drive carpark from 9am to 11am on Sunday 6 July 2025.”

No gardening experience is required and refreshments will be provided. Those interested in attending must wear suitable clothes and footwear as well as bring their own gloves and a water bottle.

Since the Million Trees project began in 2012 more than 563,000, seedlings, trees and shrubs have been planted. More information on the Project here

This event aligns with the “Liveable” theme in the new Strategic Community Plan 2025 – 2035, Your Voice – Our Future where managing and protecting the natural environment is a priority.
